Mirza melon, also known as torpedo melon, Mirzachul melon, or gulabi melon, is a unique and delicious variety of sweet melon native to Uzbekistan and Central Asia. Introduced to California, this cultivar has gained popularity among home gardeners for its distinctive shape, vibrant color, and exceptional flavor.

Growing Conditions

Mirza melons thrive in full sun and well-draining soil with a pH level between 6.0 and 7.5. They require a long growing season, typically 90-100 days from planting to harvest, and perform best when temperatures stay above 60°F (15°C).

Planting & Care

Plant Mirza melon seeds directly into the garden after the last frost, as they do not transplant well. Water deeply and regularly, especially during fruit development, to ensure a sweet and juicy harvest. Apply organic mulch around the base of the plants to conserve moisture and regulate soil temperature.
